We are sorry to hear of the recent untimely passing of one of our comrades.  To say that Alexis (Ariel) Herrera, a.k.a. Omni Existence, was an active member of our community would be an understatement.  He was a member of the Robot-Japan forum since 2002, and had almost 4,000 posts!  He was one of the moderators who kept things running smoothly, and was passionate about the fun-draw events.  Below is a sampling of his fine artistic talents.  More can be seen on here and on his website dedicated to his passions.

He will be sorely missed. Please add your thoughts and memories to the comments section below.  I sincerely apologize to all those who had posted their deepest thoughts and condolences in the past, but all posts between June 19 and June 30, 2011 were unfortunately lost when the website was moved to a new server.  The older posts are shown below.  More comments can be seen on the Robot-Japan forum here (must be logged in to see this thread).

Omni was one of the first board members I met when I first joined this board. He exemplified everything good that a fellow member should be, he was patient with my questions and answered them fully, he was also encouraging and never treated anyone new or old like they were somehow less "worthy" to be a member. He also had a enthusiasm for this hobby which was genuinely infectious and a true art talent. I can honestly say that the way I treat other board members is my way of imitating Omni. He set the standard which I hope I and every board members strives to achieve. Rest in peace my dear friend you will be sorely missed.

An RJ Brother like No Other...
...his love and passion for this hobby
still rings as contagious as the captivating
colors of our favorite robot toys.
Even now he waves to us from that toy room
in the sky... it's raining gokins...
...no umbrella needed, just catch them all
with all his love.
RIP and Blessed Be, Brother.

Dang. I really don't know what to say... I have been inactive on the forums for far too long, but RJ is my homepage so I see all the updates on here whenever I get online, and now I really feel like crap that I haven't been in touch with all you guys, including and especially Omni-X, for so long. I am painfully sad to hear of his passing.

Omni Existence, or Omni-X, was one of the first online friends that I made here on RJ. We collaborated together a couple of times on art pieces. I have always loved his aggressive style and portrayal of the classic bots, and especially love how he almost always did his work the good old fashioned way, traditionally with pencils, pens, markers, color pencils, etc. His passion for our hobby shined in every piece he did, and I am glad to have had a chance to work with him.

Still, even more importantly, he was a friend on the forums who shared the love for this crazy hobby. Always one to contribute to the discussions and share opinions and insight on the toys and shows. I truly regret never having the chance to meet him in person.

I do not know the cause of his passing, but I hope it was without any suffering.

Rest in peace Ariel. You are already sorely missed.

Forever your friend and brother in mecha,

- Robby (REX-203)
