Just think blue solid robot toy with electronics. Think durable well-thought-out transformations. Think kid's toy.
Pictured below is the Japanese version of the Astro Megazord by Bandai toys. Glance at the Silver lined glossy illustrated box and memories of DX Popy toys come to mind. This box art is excellent and an apt preview of one of the best Power Rangers toys.
The Japanese version of the toy contains a battery operated chest light. The US version appears to have the same feature. Another difference I noted was that the US version has more of a white cast to the sword and accessories. The Japanese release has a more realistic gray coloring. Finally the Japanese toys appear to be a darker blue plastic.
I love the solid transformation of the robot and ever-trendy space theme of this series. You can't go wrong with a toy space cruiser and double the pleasure with a fit-inside shuttle design. My impressions of the Astro Megazord robot was positive, very very positive as it appealed to my adult aesthetic side and fun-loving kid ego.
