Godanner

Have you heard the buzz about Godanner? If not then you probably haven't read the fat thread on Robot-Japan's BBS. The thread and interest for this "Twin Drive" robot is off the scale and about as hot as you can get. Let's take a look at the plot as described by the animenewsnetwork.com: Plot Summary: Five years ago, while battling an alien force known as the "Mimesis," Dannar pilot Goh Saruwatari first met Anna Aoi. Today, on the day of their wedding, the ceremony is interrupted when the Mimesis strike again. As Goh struggles in his battle against the alien threat, Anna stumbles upon a top secret robot known as the "Neo-Okusaer" and uses it as a last-resort to save her fiancee. At that moment, Dannar and Neo-Okusaer merge to become the mighty robot "Godannar."
Godanner Twin Drive Robot Toy Now the toy....
Godanner is absolutely incredible, doing a full body suplex on the competition with "joint work". I've seen a ton of diecast robots in my day and innovation isn't a word I've used in ages;Godanner is INNOVATIVE. The arm and leg joints give you an incredible amount of poseability, in fact as much as most Spawn or Marvel Super Heroes action figures of plastic & PVC.
Did I mention Godanner looks great? Check out the optional head flames, sparkling transluscent chest, and spiffy red paintwork.
Imagine bending the leg of a chogokin back so far that the toes can touch the toy's head. Arms can be bent to the point of touching the back of the shoulder.
Then I was quite impressed about the three abdomen plates that can rotate. They flex to the point of giving Godanner yoga moves. With all this flexibility you must take care to not chip up the toy. New parts move so well and flex so much that you must be careful, not that this is a flaw, you just need to watch your play.
The box packaging is quite large given that the toy is about the size of a SOC Mazinga. Box size is roughly double most S.O.C. (Bandai Soul of Chogokin) toys. Oh, and there is a sword about 3 times the size of the robot itself.
It is an absolute miracle that the robot can hold this sword- and it is held quite well. You can pose Godanner in all kinds of cutting and slicing positions; and the toy stands up and doesn't tip that easily. One sword handle has a built in fist and a tight fitting for swashbuckling action.
Godanner is simply a great piece of engineering with an A+ in play value. You can pose the toy in all kinds of positions and then stretch the moves even further with a few extra "innovative joints" that involve moving pannels. Max Factory gets my props for a excellent work and an addictive toy to play with.
Pricing is high at $195 shipped but I do see where the cost goes. My toy's quality was incredible and the diecast content is high (legs, waist, thighs, body core, arms). The sword was solid & sparkling, paintwork gleaming & percise, and flexibility awesome. Save, pay, play, & enjoy all the fun!
