Micro Robot 7-2-1 Formation 1982

Takara Toys Robot

Designated 7 for seven individual robots, 2 for two battle vehicles, and 1 for a single giant robot, this set was the pinnacle of micro robot toys or Takara. This 1982 series of toys consisted of smaller robots (micro robots) that could combine in various ways and morph into new forms.

Inside the set was an exclusive Microman m004 Eiji figure to complement the set. Once combined, each of the 7 robots could be drive, if you will, by Eiji from inside a cockpit.

Parts of the Battle Armor, the main mecca suit, include all seven robots, leg structure, cockpit structure, treads, and a pilot. Robot R12 to R18 form the arms, legs, right shoulder, left shoulder, and chest. Then the leg superstructure can form part of a jet or hold the toy together. The cockpit conceals the driver below and hinges in the back.

Toy scholars have traced this robot as the final evolution from combiners, Godaikin style toys, to the upcoming trend of Transformers TM toys. In the set each robot chest is made of diecast, but the accessories and robot limbs are made of diecast. This setup is premium for playing without chipping the toy.
