Clover Diecast and Plastic Robots

Much of the 70's die-cast robot funk was dictated by Clover and their style of using enough die-cast to sink a ship.  Countless  paths of Japanese transformer evolution led through this bankrupted company; Clover closed its doors in the early 80's.  These helmet, chest, and antler styles can be seen in current Takara toys.  Mecha style robots can trace their beginnings to the Xabungle series or in their earlier designs like Tryder. Gundam toys sprouted from these over-engineered beginnings..

Acrobunch

Though he was officially made by Poplar, I have a strong belief that Clover made Acrobunch.

Daitarn 3

Daitarn 3 was imported into the US in the early 80's but was released in Japan in the late 70's.

Daioja DX Daioja DX

Big Bad and Magnetic, Daioja is a stout heavy bot from Clover in the early 1980's.

Gundam DX Gundam DX

Here is one of the first Gundam incarnations before Bandai purchased the toy production rights. This is the diecast Glover Gundam DX set.

Guntank DX Guntank DX

Guntank is an underappreciated member of the Gundam robot line. I happen to love the weapon heavy design.

Iron Gear DX Iron Gear DX

Irongear DX was produced by Clover, but in a large plastic toy. Note the superb box art.

Iron Gear ST

Here is the smaller Irongear base robot. It uses more diecast metal but is closer to 8" tall.

Tryder DX Tryder DX

The wing'ed one, Tryder DX by Clover. He is a favorite in Italy and Europe.

Walker Garrier DX

Walker Garrier is one of the Characters from the Xabungle anime series of Japan.

Walker Garrier ST

Here is the transformable Walker Garrier that is approximately 7" tall.

Xabungle DX

Click on the link above for the lovely, classic, and heavy Xabungle DX by Clover. This robot is of a high diecast content and defines mecha designs.

NewMaz.jpg (36409 bytes) Zanbot 3 DX by Clover toys

One of my favorite diecast robots, Zanbot 3 DX is a monster. Its size is close to Tetsujin 28's and its diecast content is close to Voltes V DX.
