R2-D2 Ceramic Robot from Star Wars

Ceramic Star Wars Robot Bank

R2-D2 robot picture (17675 bytes) Back of R2-D2 robot (11554 bytes) Whitel Plains label (10784 bytes)

Above are pictures of a large R2D2 by Great Plains Ceramics. Dimensions are around 6 inches in diameter and over 8 inches in height. I have found this to be a rare and undocumented Star Wars object.

The maker Great Plains was literaly a Mid-Western company that produced these bank-like creamics in limited quantities. If it was intended as a bank, then there must have been a cork bottom or plastic lid. As it is, the toy appears to be more of a static ceramic statue. There a number of slots fully cut through the R2-D2.

If you have additional Great Plains information or R2-D2 information, please send an email to admin@robot-japan.com . Thanks!
