Robot toy box art from KmartKmart Decept 1 Transistor robots 1985

Yes, believe it or not Kmart actually carried Godaikin style robots in 1985. Shock! The toys took the Godaikin Gardian toys and combined the Transformers "name" to make Decept 1 and Decept 2. They were marketed as Transistor robots; what a misnomer since there were wasn't even a picture of a transistor.

Decept 1 and 2 robot packaging Looking from the outside you will see that this toy kept some watered down Godaikin accessories. Kmart imported these bootlegs and used the window packaging to draw in kids. I was a bit taken aback at the $9.97 price. It was an expensive toy considering that Star Wars figures were around $3.50 at the time.

The robots used diecast throughout the chest and then have a sparkly finish like the Japanese originals. i have found this set to be pretty rare since few collectors saved them and few (probably) were imported.
